A new grant scheme's being launched in Salisbury, to make sure young people still have access to activities during the cost of living crisis.

Organisations and businesses will be able to apply for support from the City Council, to run services for 11 to 19 year olds.

Cash is available for up to 25 year olds with special educational needs or disabilities.

Salisbury City Council's come up with the £5,000 scheme after consulting with local youth groups, and Wiltshire Council.

They've identified the need to help young people access activities - one Youth Focus Group Member said:

“There are loads of things to do if you can afford them. We talk about safe spaces all the time. They are there, just not everyone can go to them.”

Cllr Victoria Charleston, said:

“We are delighted to be offering grants this year to organisations and businesses who provide high-quality activities and learning for our young people. Importantly, how we spend this budget will be led by the voices of young people in our City. It is their needs and concerns we want to help address and we will continue to work with them on this.”

More details of the grants, eligibility criteria and how to apply, can be found on the City Council website. |newtab)
