A woman from Salisbury has been sentenced for posting offensive videos on social media - but avoids jail.

4\0 year old Fiona Ryan from Laverstock Road has been handed a 12 week custodial sentence, suspended for 18 months.

She's also been given a further 8 week prison term by Salisbury Magistrates, to run concurrently.

Ryan had been found guilty of four charges under the Communications Act 2003 following a trial in September.

She also previously admitted two charges of posting grossly offensive content on X/Twitter.

Ryan represented herself in court and apologised for any offence caused, but denied that the content of posts, which were shown in court, were anti-Semitic.

The court ordered that she must also pay a victim surcharge of £154 and court costs of £650.

In his sentencing remarks, District Judge Timothy Pattinson said:

“Any reasonable person would find your comments disgusting and nauseating. I find they were motivated by a desire to shock, by self-publicity and money.”
