Salisbury's Victoria Park hosting green-fingered fun day
The City Council's aiming to get more children into gardening
A Salisbury park's hosting green-fingered fun day today (Wednesday 31st May).
Fun in the Park follows a similar event last year, with the City Council putting on activities in Victoria Park from 11.00am to 3.00pm.
It's all aimed at getting more young people into gardening, during National Children's Gardening Week.
Today's event's focussed on 5 to 11 year olds, with a range of gardening themed workshops to get involved in.
There'll be a clay workshop, sunflower planting, and Wiltshire Wildlife Trust will be teaching about why insects are just as important with their “pollinating insect on a stick”.
There will also be face painting, and children will be able to take away free wildflower seeds so they can learn how to grow plants that are great for the environment at home.
Share Salisbury will be at the event, providing access to a 'Library of Things' to borrow either on a one-off basis or at a reduced cost with a membership plan.
