A toy shop in Salisbury will be closing their doors on New Year's eve after 25 years of trading.

Store closing signs had appeared on The Entertainer on Blue Boar Row, who have now confirmed they only have a few weeks left.

They have blamed a "sustained period of weak local trading" on the closure.

The store is situated next to the old Debenhams

In a statement, Mark Campbell, Group CEO at The Entertainer, said:

“We are very sorry to announce the closure of our Salisbury store which will cease trading on New Year’s Eve due to a sustained period of weak local trading. The Entertainer has been trading in Salisbury since 1996 and has been part of our journey for 25 years. We are incredibly proud of the Salisbury store team, who are dedicated and hardworking and are looking to redeploy them to alternative suitable roles where possible. We would also like to thank our customers for their support over the last 25 years. Following the closure on New Year’s Eve, the nearest stores will be Eastleigh, Winchester and Bournemouth and customers can order online at TheToyShop.com”
