A three year planned project between the Magna Learning Partnership and the FA is now going to become a reality with a new 3G football pitch in Salisbury,

The board managed to obtain £500,000 of funding from the The Football Foundation, £12,000 from Salisbury City Council and are investing the remaining £160,000 themselves.

The facility will be sited at Sarum Academy for use of schools, local clubs and organisations connected with football.

They say this new pitch will "transform the opportunities" for all weather training and matches for those clubs who use the site.

It's expected to be completed during the next few months with the first turf being cut soon.

It's hope it will be ready for full use by January 2022.

Head of Commercial Operations at Magna Learning Partnership Andrea Crowle, said:

"This will be the realisation of a football dream for our city that has been ten years in the making; it's a bright future for rising football stars coming out of Salisbury."
