Series of family fun days around Salisbury this summer
They'll be held in Harnham, Bishopdown, Bemerton Heath and the Friary
A series of family fun days are being taken to four different parts of Salisbury this summer, as the City Council encourages people to 'Love Where We Live'.
Events will be held in Bishopdown, the Friary, Bemerton Heath and Harnham - repeating similar days that have been put on in recent years.
It's aimed at giving local residents a chance to find out more about activities and groups in their area, while bringing together the community.
They'll take place in the following order:
- We Love Harnham – Saturday 29th July, 2.00pm – 5.00pm - Harnham Parish Hall, SP2 8EY
- We Love Bishopdown – Monday 31st July, 11.00am – 3.00pm - Bishopdown Sports Field, SP1 3EQ
- We Love Bemerton Heath – Thursday 3rd Aug, 11.00am – 3.00pm - Pinewood Green, Pinewood Way, SP2 9HU
- We Love The Friary – Saturday 19th Aug, 11.00am – 3.00pm - The Friary Community Centre, SP1 2HW
There'll be music from Disco Dion at each of the events, plus things like climbing walls, craft and creative play from Wiltshire Creative, Salisbury Museum and Spurgeons.
We're told each day will also have parts to it that are unique to each area of Salisbury, with support from residents associations, community panels and local churches and sports clubs.
The Harnham activities will also link up with the Harnham Parish Fete to create one big celebration.
Revd Becky Roberts, Vicar of Harnham, said:
"We know how many people in Harnham love where they live, so we are really excited to be working with Salisbury City Council and Harnham Community Network to celebrate this at the We Love Harnham Fun Day and Parish Fete. There will be fun for all the family, thanks to the generous support of Salisbury City Council, as well as sideshows, stalls, and refreshments to raise funds for the work of Harnham Parish."
Cllr Victoria Charleston said:
"Salisbury City Council works to provide a 'lively city' and aims to go beyond the Market Square. Once again, our Communities Team is listening to residents and providing fun events where people live. I hope everyone has a great time and look forward to joining in."
