We're being warned to keep our belongings safe while out shopping in Salisbury city centre, after several reports of pickpocketing.

Police say phones and other valuables have been targeted in recent weeks.

There were four incidents in the Old George Mall on the Saturday before last (1st March alone).

Officers are stepping up patrols to help keep people safe, and for the public to ask any questions.

PC Mark Giles said: "Please be vigilant, keep all valuables secure and zip up any handbags.

"Remain aware of your surroundings. One victim was followed around a store for 20 minutes and four attempts to pick her pocket were made before her phone was eventually stolen.

"It is possible that the offenders could come back to our area targeting shops and busy streets."
