The British Hairdressing Business Awards are the industry's top accolades, recognising 'professionalism, innovation and excellence'.

Phil says being nominated this year is special:

"This year has certainly tested the hair industry to its limits and my business has faced challenges I never imagined I'd see. As a salon owner, I've become used to adapting, taking risks, seeing what works and re-evaluating for the benefit of my business, and these skills have certainly helped me to weather the storm in the last few months. To be named as a finalist feels wonderful. And for the salon and team to finalise also is even better. They have worked so hard to keep morale high and the clients comfortable in these uncertain times."

Jayne Lewis-Orr, executive director of the British Hairdressing Business Awards said:

"To be named as a finalist in HJ's Business Director of the Year category confirms just how exceptional Phil Smith is. This year in particular has required salon owners to hold their nerve, think creatively and stretch their support for both their team and clients further than ever before. He has proven completely that they can lead a team and create a thriving business, even in the face of adversity. We wish Phil and his team the very best of luck."

The awards evening will be held in January 2021 in London.
