Some restaurants and pubs in Salisbury are going to be continuing to offer discounted food and non-alcoholic drinks throughout September.

'Eat Out to Help Out' was launched by Chancellor Rishi Sunak to try and help boost the hospitality industry after lockdown and it was run Monday to Wednesday throughout August.

The scheme meant any businesses that signed up could offer a 50% discount, with the government paying the rest.

More than 85,000 establishments across the country took part, including over 60 in Salisbury city centre.

Now, some organisations, including ones in Salisbury and Amesbury, will also run similar schemes throughout September, but fund it themselves.

This includes:

Allium - Market Square

The Avon Brewery - Castle Street

The Cathedral Hotel - Milford Street

The Chapter House - St John's Street (until 9th September, food only)

The New Inn - New Street (food only)

The Old Ale & Coffee House - Crane Street (40% off, up to £10 per person, food only)

Well Natural - Queen Street (plus Fridays)

Wig & Quill - New Street

The Wheatsheaf Inn, Lower Woodford

The Old Castle Harvester, Old Castle Road (50% off main meals only, when signing up through their app)

Robin McGowan, Chief Executive of Salisbury BID, said:

"The Eat Out to Help Out scheme has been hugely successful in helping our restaurants start to recover from the coronavirus lockdown, and this support from government has been appreciated by businesses. Many of our hospitality businesses told us they were fully booked every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and that many customers had to be turned down.

It's been warming to see so many local people supporting and enjoying our abundance of restaurants in the city centre. Salisbury has felt very vibrant throughout August and we're delighted a number of restaurants have taken the initiative to continue with the scheme throughout September. We hope the local people of Salisbury will continue to support these businesses."

EAT IN TO HELP OUT

Takeaway service Deliveroo are also going to be doing their bit for restaurants during September.

They have launched 'Eat In to Help Out' where Monday to Wednesday people will get £5 off their meals from selected sites.

Every Monday they will release a discount code that can be used for the first 100,000 people using the scheme.
