Salisbury's Remembrance plans 'scaled back' for 2020
The City Council's making some changes to this year's commemorations.
The Covid-19 restrictions mean Salisbury City Council is altering their plans to mark Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day in just under a month's time.
They've said the traditional Act of Remembrance service in the Guildhall Square will be 'scaled back and socially distanced'.
But further details haven't been revealed yet, with the City Council saying they'll be available 'shortly'.
Remembrance Sunday itself falls on Sunday 8th November - with Armistice Day following on Wednesday 11th.
POPPY PROJECT POSTPONED
A huge community art project to decorate Salisbury Guildhall and the Guildhall Square with poppies has been pushed back to next year too.
The authority had asked local people to help create knitted, crocheted and felt poppies for the display.
That's also being reduced for this year's Remembrance, instead creating a smaller display with the Banqueting Hall window at the Guildhall, and some on the outside of the building.
The City Council say they want to continue to 'pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country'.
