The city's bus operator has reassured us that services will keep running

Following news that the Wiltshire Council area has now moved into Tier 3 Covid-19 restrictions, there's confirmation from Salisbury Reds that bus services won't be affected.

The operator has gradually brought back full timetables over the last few months and they'll stay in place during the latest escalation in rules.

Salisbury Reds Managing Director Andrew Wickham said:

"We know the area will be hit hard by this latest move, and we understand that many workers will still need to be able to travel, so our plan is to continue as we are. Several months ago, we introduced special measures to ensure travelling on public transport is one of the safest places to be - and this is still the case.

"We have stringent regimes in place, including extra focus on touch touch-points with anti-viral wipes. Our passengers must wear face coverings, unless exempt, and we have also given our operation the 'belt and braces' treatment, by also adding hand sanitisers.

"I would like to give credit and to thank our dedicated team of drivers and support staff - who are themselves keyworkers. Their efforts are helping people carry out vital work in our region."

ALTERED NEW YEAR TIMETABLE

Before the change to Tier 3 was announced, Salisbury Reds had already scheduled a different timetable for the New Year Bank Holidays - for travel tomorrow (Friday 1st January 2021) and Saturday (2nd January).

You can find further details on how your route might be affected on the Salisbury Reds website.

Normal services will then resume on Sunday 3rd January.
