The city's bus operator is having to draw in some help from some of their sister companies to maintain services with social distancing.

We'll start to see the other buses on the roads from now on.

They include vehicles with Swindon's Bus or Southern Vectis designs on picking up passengers on our regular routes.

Salisbury Reds' timetables have now gone back to what they were before Covid-19.

But restrictions on the number of passengers that can be carried for social distancing means more physical buses are needed to make sure everyone wanting to travel can do so.

We're reminded that if we see a bus that doesn't look like a normal Salisbury Reds vehicle, it is still a legitimate service.

Southern Vectis buses from the Isle of Wight are being brought in to help Salisbury Reds

General Manager of Salisbury Reds, Alex Chutter said:

"We are making sure our team has everything in place to provide a quality and reliable operation here, and we are pleased to be working with our local colleagues at Swindon's Bus Company and Southern Vectis to do just that.

"Go South Coast is made up of five operators - this is highly advantageous for us all because it means we can move buses around the region as-and-when we need them - whilst we are servicing and preparing our fleet. That's the beauty of being part of a bigger team.

"Anyone who sees a Swindon's Bus Company or Southern Vectis bus operating the service they require can be assured they will be able to travel as normal. It is still a Salisbury Reds service - just with different colours. We are ensuring people are aware of this, with special stickers adorning each of the vehicles.

"Our team is looking forward to welcoming more customers on-board over the coming weeks, as the city returns to a renewed sense of normality."
