Salisbury Foodbank gets support from city bus operator
The charity's creating Christmas hampers for those in need
Salisbury Foodbank's got a boost from the city's bus operator - to make sure people in need can put a meal on the table this Christmas.
A £320 donation has been handed over by Salisbury Reds towards emergency food parcels.
David Newton, Salisbury Reds operations manager, said:
“Salisbury foodbank is a vital resource, providing vulnerable people with much-needed food and necessities when they are going through difficult times.
“Without it, many people would go hungry. In addition to the staples, we know people get a boost from having a treat every now and then - so we’re donating towards some special festive hampers. We hope those who use the foodbank enjoy them, and we wish them a very happy and peaceful Christmas.”
Maria Stevenson from Salisbury Foodbank, said:
“Christmas isn’t Christmas without wonderful surprises like this gift from Salisbury Reds. In November we committed to create and deliver 200 Christmas hampers supporting 785 people experiencing hardship in our community.
“Last week we realised we will struggle to meet this demand with our food donations. This monetary gift will allow us to purchase the missing items, and keep to our timetable.”
