Salisbury Reds encouraging customers to wear a mask on buses beyond July 19th

They say it will better help protect yourself and others

From July 19th, Salisbury Reds will continue to encourage customers to wear a face covering on their buses despite the use of them becoming personal choice.

There will be no legal requirement to wear them in inside spaces from Monday, but the bus company, and many others across the country, say they would prefer to have one on apart from those medically exempt.

Andrew Wickham, Salisbury Reds Managing Director, said:

"The government has announced that wearing a face covering on public transport is no longer mandatory, and has given individuals the choice.

"We understand that this is a decision for each individual to make, but we urge our customers to consider others when travelling with us, and we strongly advise that they wear a face covering.

"All on board seating will be available from Monday 19 July meaning, for most journeys, there will be plenty of space for customers to keep their distance from others."

It comes after London Mayor Sadiq Khan ordered masks on public transport to be compulsory in the capital.

He's asked Transport for London to keep the requirement beyond the 19th to "provide an extra layer of protection and additional reassurance to Londoners and visitors to the capital".
