Map of pubs in Salisbury selling real ale published
27 pubs are charted on the map, with a suggested route around the city
A map of Salisbury pubs selling real ale has been released by the city's local branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).
The map, and it's suggested walking route from the city's Railway station, aims to give landlords a New Year's boost.
It's been created by Andrew Ward, a member of the Salisbury & South Wiltshire branch of CAMRA, who felt that the city lacked a simple user-friendly map showing its pubs.
“Life is not easy for pub landlords at the moment and the local economy in Salisbury has been through tough times in recent years so CAMRA wants to promote the city’s pubs and the real ales that they sell,” said Andrew.
The map has been welcomed by hotel owners too, with one remarking:
“I am often asked by guests – particularly German and Dutch visitors – where they can get traditional British beer and now I will be able to give them this guide which contains the information that they need.”
27 pubs feature on the map and includes a drawing of the historic Haunch of Venison by local artist Fred Fieber on the front cover.
It's already been distributed to pubs and the Information Office at the back of the Guildhall.
The plan is to make it available at all the points where visitors arrive or stay in Salisbury.
