Salisbury's Police Inspector says having a Public Spaces Protection Order in place is 'making a real positive difference in the city'.

The rules were brought in back in May, to tackle issues around street drinking and the use of catapults.

It covers Salisbury city centre and the neighbouring areas of Laverstock & Ford, Quidhampton, Netherhampton, Wilton, Alderbury, Odstock and Coombe Bissett.

Salisbury Police Inspector Tina Osborn's been speaking about its success in the force's latest Facebook Q&A.

Anyone found in breach of the PSPO could be handed a Fixed Penalty Notice of £100, on the spot.

Failing to pay it could lead to fine of up to £1,000.

Wiltshire Police and Council staff can issue the fines, with the scheme supported by local anti-social behaviour wardens, supplied by Venture Security.
