Salisbury won't have a Pride event in 2023, after organisers revealed their 'tough decision' to cancel this year.

The Board of Directors have issued a statement, saying the efforts to open and the subsequent closure of the organisation's Progress bar on Endless Street has had a 'financial impact' on them.

They've said:

"We regret to announce that we have had to made the tough decision to cancel Salisbury Pride Festival 2023. Unfortunately despite the efforts to save Progress Bar Salisbury, this has also had a financial impact on the CIC.

"We know this is incredibly disappointing and is not a decision we've been able to make easily, but our duty is to ensure that all our events are run safely."

Salisbury Pride say 2022 was their biggest event to date, and saw hundred of people attend Queen Elizabeth Gardens for the festivities last summer.

The group say that effort hasn't gone unnoticed:

"This was thanks to the had work of an incredibly small group of dedicated volunteers and one massive support from our community."

They're now working on plans to rebuild Salisbury Pride, opening up more volunteering opportunities for people to get involved across the organisation.
