PCC ‘inches away’ from contract on new Salisbury Police Station
Philip Wilkinson hopes to be able to reveal the location in a week or two
Wiltshire Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Wilkinson says he hopes to be able to make a decision on the new Salisbury Police Station in the next ‘week or two’.
The PCC couldn’t tell Greatest Hits Radio which of the four locations is his preference but said ‘common sense’ would tell us which one is the best.
Mr Wilkinson said ‘detailed’ negotiations with the site owner have been going on for about three months and he is now ‘inches’ away from signing the contract.
“I've been working and I've got people who I'm driving nuts as I'm pushing this as hard as I can.
“We are we are inches away and I really, really hope that I can make a decision within, you know, a week or two.”
Without disclosing which location was being negotiated with, the PCC did say this:
“It's the closest to the city. It's the one with the best access. It's the one with the most land.
“That would allow us to have a fully functioning police force and with the option of a custody suite, should that be the operational decision of the Chief constable and we can find the money.”
