Salisbury Playhouse to reopen next month
They have been shut since the UK lockdown in March.
The Salisbury Playhouse will be reopening on October 14th with a six week season of theatre, dancing, comedy and music.
The theatre will see a reduced capacity in the main house in order to follow guidelines for indoor performances and social distancing.
It will come down from 512 seats to 148, with people sitting in their household bubbles and some rows completely removed.
There will also be further measures to ensure safety, which include:
- Paperless ticketing
- A one-way system
- Enhanced cleaning
- Mandatory face coverings
- Performances without intervals
- Advance ordering of refreshments
From October 14th until November 21st, there will be a number of theatre performances, which include performances of 'Great Expectations', 'Elton John: It's A Little Bit Funny' and 'The Tiger and the Moustache'.
There will also be dance shows like 'The Hotel Experience' and 'Juliet and Romeo', while Suzi Ruffell will be taking to the stage to do some stand-up comedy.
Screenings of 'Fleabag' and 'Swan Lake' are also taking place.
Gareth Machin, Artistic Director of Wiltshire Creative, said:
"We are delighted that we have found a way of offering a season of performances safely this autumn. We’ve all been missing the thrill of live performance and we’re excited that this dynamic programme of dance, music, theatre, comedy and film will enable us to begin welcoming audiences back to Salisbury Playhouse again."
You can see a full list of performances by visiting wiltshirecreative.co.uk.
Priority booking for Wiltshire Creative Members opens online on Friday (11th September) at 10am, with general booking starting from Tuesday (15th) at 10am.
NO CHRISTMAS PANTO
It had already been confirmed in July that there would be no Christmas pantomime at Salisbury Playhouse this year.
As there is no guidance on when the theatre can fully reopen, they have taken the decision to postpone Cinderella.
