Salisbury Playhouse has won an award for it’s Cinderella Pantomime over the 2022 Christmas period at the 2023 UK Pantomime Awards.

The award was for “Best Principal Lead” which went to Jasmine Triadi, who played Cinderella.

In a twitter post, Ms Triadi thanked those in charge of casting for “giving Asian children a Cinderella that looks like them”.

Artistic Director of Wilshire Creative, Gareth Machin said:

“We are thrilled that Jasmine’s wonderful performance has been recognised at the UK Pantomime Awards. As a producing theatre, it is hugely exciting to see our in-house productions garner this national acknowledgement as we begin preparations for this year’s panto.

"Dick Whittington is one of the great panto stories and, penned by the same writers as Cinderella, promises to be a spectacular, fresh and sparkly production full of music, dance and laughter.”

The UK Pantomime Awards are the country's leading awards scheme for Christmas productions, with the London ceremony hosted by theatre legend, Salisbury born Christopher Biggins.
