Salisbury Plain MP Danny Kruger is to appear alongside his mother, Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith in a Channel 4 documentary tonight (Thursday 16th February).

It'll explore the topic of assisted dying - as the pair have opposing views on the subject.

Viewers will see them travelling around 10 US states where it assisted dying is legal.

Tory MP Danny Kruger told us why he wanted to take part:

"I know that the more people understand the issues of assisted dying, the more they think about it and study how it actually works, particularly in the countries where they've legalised it already, and the more they realise it's a very complicated question.

"I'm very familiar, I'm afraid, through my work with how badly we can treat each other as human beings. I worry a lot about the vulnerable, people who depressed or disabled, have chronic illnesses or get a terrible diagnosis of a terminal illness which immediately causes them to panic and fear what the end will be like for them."

Danny has been a campaigner for ‘dying well’, and thinks people should be 'cared for, not killed'.

His mum, Prue Leith, says she'd like to 'die like most dogs die, with a lethal injection, out in seconds'.

The Wiltshire MP explains why he wants to draw attention to the debates:

"I worry about how we could find people effectively abused, whether deliberately or not deliberately, but feeling like they're a burden, feeling they're costing their family money, or costing the NHS money and they feel themselves being put on a conveyor belt towards an assisted death. I think society is too vulnerable and too many people are being put at risk."

A trailer's been released for the show:

'Prue and Danny's Death Road Trip' is on Channel 4 tonight at 9.00pm.
