The four Peregrine chicks at Salisbury Cathedral have been named.

The chicks, which hatched at the end of April, have been given names themed around water, which was inspired by the Flower Festival taking place on site around the time they were born.

This years clutch saw three males and one female hatch.

The quartet have been successfully ringed with identification tags.

Their names are:

Douglas (Scottish meaning Dark River, male 3NJ)

Afon (Welsh for river, male 33J)

Ford (English meaning river crossing, male 3RJ)

Shannon (Irish meaning Wise River, female 3ZJ)

Over 400 names were submitted to the Cathedral's naming team, with the winning suggestions made by Sharlene.
