More donations points set up for Salisbury Pantry
The social supermarket is seeking our help to keep stocks up
The Salisbury Pantry scheme has set up a series of new donations points, for us to help stock the shelves of the social supermarket.
The service, based on Catherine Street, allows members to pay a fee and fill up their grocery basket with items from the store, at a much lower priced then a regular supermarket.
All the items that customers can buy have been donated by the community, local groups and businesses.
Where to donate
A host of donations point are now in place around the city, including:
- Bemerton Heath Centre, Pinewood Way, Bemerton Heath, SP2 9HU – Monday to Friday, 9.00 to 5.00pm
- Castle Road Co-op, 74 Castle Rd, Salisbury, SP1 3RR
- Wilton One-Stop, North St, Wilton, Salisbury, SP2 0HA
- Rowlands Pharmacy – Toiletries and Sanitary Products only – Pembroke Rd, Salisbury, SP2 9DJ
- Charlie’s Store, 18 Catherine St, Salisbury, SP1 2DA
- Shopmobility, 3B Priory Square, Salisbury, SP2 7TL
- Salisbury Manor Care Home Reception, Shapland Close, Salisbury, SP2 7EJ
- Bishop Wordsworth School Sixth Form for parents, staff and students
- Salisbury Mosque for members of their community
- Dinghams Cookshop, 28 Market Place, Salisbury, SP1 1TL
You can also take items directly to Salisbury Pantry at 59 Catherine Street, SP1 2DH on Mondays between 10.00am and 2.00pm, Tuesdays from 3.00 until 4.00pm, and Wednesdays from 10.00am to 12.30pm.
Liz Edwards, one of the Pantry Managers said:
“It has been a pleasure going out and meeting people from all these businesses, people are so willing to help.”
Angela Brenchly, also a Salisbury Pantry Manager, said:
“Having the local business community come together to support the Salisbury Pantry is amazing. We have applications for new memberships every week during this cost-of-living crisis. Without this support we cannot run our service!”
National research across Pantry schemes has found the average member saves £21 per month on their food bill which, if they are weekly shoppers, is more than £1,000 per year.
Feedback's also found most Pantry members report 'improved household finances, better physical and mental health, new friendships and a strengthened community'.
Salisbury Pantry has 350 active member households, with 951 family members, and provides around 420 shops per month.
