More than 97% of homes and business in Salisbury can order an ultrafast Full Fibre service thanks to the Openreach network.

Salisbury was Openreach’s first Full Fibre city, with the access to such service higher than the UK average.

The company, which runs the UK’s digital network, has announced that its upgrade of the UK’s broadband infrastructure has reached 10 million homes, businesses, and public services.

Described as “once-in-a-generation”, the upgrade gives access to the fastest and most reliable broadband in the world.

The project, which has cost £15 billion, making it the second largest levelling up project in the UK today, is estimated to grow the UK economy with a £72 billion productivity boost, the equivalent to launching 25 new businesses in every local council in the UK.

The upgrade has come at the perfect moment too, with the UK’s internet usage doubling post-pandemic, allowing us to keep up with the demands of modern life, as well as improving social mobility and connections for the elderly.

Now a family of four in the South West can all stream ultra HD or 4K qualify, without the annoyance of buffering.
