Salisbury nursery receives letter from the King
South Hills children wrote to His Majesty after his mother's passing
Children at a Salisbury nursery have had a card from King Charles - and say they're 'thankful and proud' to have received it!
Little ones at South Hills Bemerton site had sent pictures and letter to His Majesty, following the death of his mother.
Nursery manager, Ellie McSorley explains how it came about:
"After the passing of the Queen this year, the children were talking about it a lot due to the constant coverage on TV, and as a Nursery we decided to celebrate the Queen's life.
"We asked the children how they would like to do this, and they said they would like a Paddington tea party and to send some pictures to the King to make him happy. So the children brought in their teddies from home and as a whole nursery, we enjoyed sandwiches and cakes.
"The children in Owl class (pre school room) drew pictures, coloured in Paddington Bears and wrote postcards to the King. The children then went to the local post box and posted them off to Buckingham Palace."
He wrote back to thank them for their kind and thoughtful gesture and included a photo of himself with the late Queen as a little boy.
The card's set to be framed in the nursery, and given 'centre stage' where the children can see it regularly.
