Salisbury District Hospital receives award for supporting Armed Forces
The NHS Foundation Trust has been honoured with a Gold Award
Salisbury's NHS Foundation Trust has received the Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award, for its outstanding support of the Armed Forces.
The award identifies the Trust as an organisation that employs and supports those who serve, veterans, and their families.
CEO Stacey Hunter said:
“We are delighted and extremely proud to have received an Employee Recognition Scheme (ERS) Gold Award. Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust is absolutely committed to serving and supporting our local Armed Forces community, our patients, our staff and their families.
"Our established and growing links to the Armed Forces and the veteran community are a priority for the hospital, and are supported by our large number of serving and veteran staff, and our partnerships with the military communities we serve.
"We will use the recognition of our Gold Award to further these links, continue to encourage the Armed Forces community to work with and for the hospital, and advocate closer working between the Armed Forces and our other partner organisations across Bath & North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire.”
To win this award from the Ministry of Defence, organisations must show that they provide ten extra paid days leave for reservists and have supportive HR policies in place for veterans, reserves, Cadet Force adult volunteers and spouses and partners of those serving in the Armed Forces.
They must also advocate the benefits of supporting those within the Armed Forces community, by encouraging others to sign the Armed Forces Covenant and engage in the Employer Recognition Scheme.
