Salisbury secure National League South safety with final day point
A 1-1 draw was enough for the Whites as St Albans City lost their final match
Salisbury have secured survival in the National League South after securing a 1-1 draw at Welling United on the final day of the season.
Brian Dutton's side also assured safety thanks to Truro City thrashing St Albans City 5-2.
Salisbury and St Albans went into the final day separated by a single goal on goal difference, with both sides on 45 points from 45 games.
A Josh Hedges penalty just before half-time had given the Whites the lead at the break, but a Joshua Redfearn goal levelled the match for already relegated Welling.
The results mean Salisbury survive by a point, a year on from clinching promotion via the Southern Premier League play-offs.
St Albans' hopes of a final day miracle were dashed inside 10 minutes of their game at Truro, as they found themselves 3-0 down and were unable to recover.
With their win, Truro sealed the National League South title and promotion to the National League.
