A new exhibition at Salisbury Museum lifts the lid on the city's modern history.

Salisbury On Camera takes inspiration from the last fifty years of city life, with nearly 250 images on display.

We'll be also to see them from now, through until the end of October this year.

The exhibition's come about from the Museum getting access to the Salisbury Journal's archives, which contain more than 450,000 pictures in total.

The Beatles filming their movie Help! in Larkhill is among the pictures from the archive included in the displays

They're stored as negatives, prints and digital files, as the technology has changed over the years.

Salisbury Museum volunteer Ken Smith has chosen the images to be displayed over several months, arranging them based on the decade they were originally taken.

Along side the carefully selected images there are fascinating objects on display which are linked to events and stories in the photos.

Salisbury Museum said:

"This exhibition offers an incredible visual insight into the life in Salisbury over five decades and is a must-see for anyone interested in the history and stories of the city. You might also want to spot yourself, a family member, friend, or famous person in the exhibition!"
