The Salisbury Member of Parliament has released a video on social media calling on the community to keep backing charities like the Stars Appeal and Salisbury Hospice.

Mr Glen's video has been put out following the announcement of England's latest lockdown.

He says it was filmed just before Christmas, and in it, he honours the work of the Salisbury District Hospital charity:

"Congratulations for all that they've done this year, in these very difficult times, but year in, year out, the Stars Appeal is a fantastic local charity and it's great that we can continue to support them."

John Glen also revealed in the video that Salisbury Hospice, which also sits within the grounds of the hospital, has had some Government support during the pandemic.

But he says community support is also really important:

"They've obviously suffered in terms of not being able to do their charitable fundraising activities this year. They've received some money from Government, around £100,000. I will be giving them my support going forward, I've done the Midnight Walk before, and it would be great if as many people as possible can do that next year and beyond."

Salisbury's MP says in his tweets that the current national lockdown is needed to protect the NHS.
