Salisbury MP meets Ukrainian troops training in South Wiltshire
John Glen's praised their 'inspiring bravery' following the visit
Salisbury's MP has been visiting Ukrainian troops getting training in South Wiltshire.
In his role as Chief Secretary to the Treasury, John Glen's been seeing how UK taxpayers' money is going directly into supporting soldiers fighting the Russian invasion.
The training, called Operation Interflex, has now been running here for a year.
17,000 soldiers have now received basic training here, helped along by scores of interpreters.
A video of John Glen's visit has been released by the Government:
In a tweet, Salisbury's MP said:
"Last week, I visited Salisbury Plain to see Ukrainian troops being trained as part of Operation Interflex. It was inspiring to see the bravery of the soldiers and to know that we are all playing our part in supporting Ukraine counter Putin’s aggression."
It's not the first visit that Ukrainian troops training here have had - the King went to see them back in February |newtab), as his first time in Wiltshire as monarch.
A Ukrainan solider in the video, whose face is covered and identifies himself as just a 'mathematician' has said a thank you to the British people for their support his homeland during the conflict:
"Without you, we could not do it, but with your help, we will."
