Salisbury's MP has described the novichok poisonings in the city, which ultimately led to the death of Dawn Sturgess, as 'dastardly and reckless'.

John Glen's written about the public inquiry into the 44 year old from Durrington's passing, which has begun this week (Monday 14th October).

He says he hopes the hearings bring a 'greater understanding' of what happened.

But he admits the idea of justice is a 'distant prospect'

Mr Glen's said in his latest blog:

"The public inquiry into the death of Dawn Sturgess has brought Salisbury back into the national headlines this week for the unhappiest of reasons.

"I have been called upon for some radio interviews and low-key media duties in recent days, but I am not among those called to give evidence at The Guildhall.

"My thoughts are with all those who are involved in the proceedings, scrutinising the loss of Dawn Sturgess, who passed away after coming into contact with Novichok.

"The dastardly and reckless attack that took place in Salisbury was a dark episode in the city’s recent history.

"Although the circumstances mean that anything resembling conventional justice is a distant prospect for her family, I hope the inquiry is able to bring greater understanding of the appalling chain of events that led to Dawn’s death."
