It's been revealed Salisbury's MP will be attending the King's Coronation at Westminster Abbey on Saturday (6th May).

John Glen's said he's 'excited and honoured to have received an invitation'.

As part of his role in Government, he'll be among the 2,000 guests going along to watch King Charles III and Queen Camilla being crowned.

In his latest blog, Mr Glen says he's 'a committed royalist and lifelong lover of the pomp and pageantry' that comes with such events.

He's described it as a 'moment in history' and a 'privilege to be present'.

Salisbury's MP will return to the city after the ceremony on Saturday to attend local Coronation events.

He said he's 'hoping for good weather to smile on all of the events that are planned around the long weekend'.

His blog also says:

"I am delighted to have been asked to read at Salisbury Cathedral’s own official service of celebration and, for the rest of the weekend, I will be trying to get around as many of the different community events as I can.

"I will put in a shift tending the community garden in Harnham at the invitation of Cllr Eleanor Wills, and I will enjoy the city events focused around the Close and Queen Elizabeth Gardens.

"I am grateful for all the kind invitations to come and join in the fun in people’s homes and neighbourhoods and I will be looking in on as many of them as I possibly can over the long weekend."
