Old Sarum has been revealed as the latest landmark to take a space on the Salisbury MONOPOLY board.
It's been given the equivalent of 'Old Kent Road' on a standard MONOPOLY board, which is the cheapest property you can buy.
Game makers, Winning Moves UK, say there are four reasons for the decision to feature the earliest settlement in Salisbury as the least expensive spot.
They are:
Both are old - Old Kent Road itself, in South London, is one of Britain's oldest roads dating back 2,000 years. Old Sarum dates back even earlier to a reported 400 BC when an iron age hillfort was erected to protect the hilltop settlement.
Both are modest - Old Kent Road is the most affordable property on a MONOPOLY board and building up a property empire on it is relatively cheap.
Both are high on cachet - Old Sarum is extremely high-profile and talked about, just like Old Kent Road. Old Kent Road is arguably the most talked-about and well known MONOPOLY property location.
Both are heavily visited - Alongside Salisbury Cathedral and Stonehenge, Old Sarum is a tourist magnet for visitors to Salisbury from across the world. In the new Salisbury game there will be a dedicated card saying: 'Go Back to Old Sarum'.
George Shrimpton, Custom Games Executive at Winning Moves UK, said:
"The game will feature the great and the good of Salisbury. It's in effect a love letter to the city."
Salisbury MONOPOLY will feature more than 30 landmarks from across the city, with Salisbury Hospice Charity being announced as a 'Community Chest' space in July.
It will be released on October 15th on Amazon and in store at shops like Waterstones, The Works and Ryman.
