A Salisbury man has been jailed for theft and handling stolen goods after multiple incidents in the city.

Troy Russell, 28, of Sherbourne Drive in Old Sarum, admitted to the offences and will serve 16 months behind bars and pay £154.

He was sentenced at Salisbury Crown Court.

On 6th March last year, he broke into a mobile home in Old Sarum, snatching several electronic items.

These included a TV, iPad, laptop and headphone, along with a wallet and cash.

A number of those items were located at Russell's address, leading to his arrest.

He also admitted to a theft from a home in February 2024, where Russell had been visiting a friend in Dews Road in Salisbury.

During the visit, he stole her purse.

Detective Sergeant Myles Scott of the Volume Crime Team said: “There can be no excuse for Russell’s actions and I'm grateful that the courts have acknowledged the severity of Russell's offending.

“There is no place for this type of behaviour in Wiltshire and I am hopeful this sentence sends out a message to those intent on causing harm in our communities.”
