Salisbury man arrested after police chase

A man from Salisbury has been arrested on suspicion of two driving offences after he was pursued by police through the city.

At around 1pm last Wednesday (15th April) officers tried to a stop a male who was driving a black Vauxhall Corsa which was acting suspiciously.

He then drove off, forcing police to chase him through Salisbury.

It began on Western Way before moving onto Castle Street, then Millstream Approach, through the Central Car Park, onto Fisherton Street, then Churchfields industrial estate and Devizes Road and into New Zealand avenue and around Bemerton Heath.

The driver then stopped near to St Michael's Road.

A 23 year old local man was arrested on suspicion of Dangerous Driving and Failing To Stop.

He has since been released under investigation.

Det Con Cerys Powell said:

"We are appealing for witnesses to this incident and are asking anyone who may have dash cam footage of the pursuit or pedestrians/by-standers who may have filmed part of it on their phones to come forward."
