Salisbury salon marks 30 years in the city
Jas Hair's owner, Jayne Prigent, has been reflecting on the anniversary.
The hairdressers and beauty business celebrates three decades since first opening this week - having grown from one salon, originally on New Canal, to three successful branches.
Jas Hair has outlets on Salisbury's New Street, at Parkwood gym on London Road and in the centre of Wilton.
The company had plans to mark the occasion with parties and events, but the Covid-19 crisis means that's had to be cancelled.
But they sent a little something to their team to toast the 30 year milestone:
Jayne Prigent has been looking back their time in business with real fondness, but admits there have been huge challenges:
"I think in 30 years, this one's probably been the toughest. We've had novichok, we've had three recessions and now we've had Covid. Anyone that started a business in the 90s knows what it's like to be up against those factors."
The Jas team have had their fair share of success too - winning the Creative Head Most Wanted Best Local Salon award 3 times, and being named a Most Wanted Legend.
The business has contributed towards raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for the Stars Appeal at Salisbury District Hospital too.
Team members have taken part in treks and fundraisers for the cause for many years.
Jayne tells us why she thinks they've stood the test of time:
"The hairdressing industry and beauty is very creative and I think you've got to make sure that you remain creative, but also be real about what your business actually is. Our business has always been to care for the community, our guests and our team."
The salons are forcibly closed at the moment, due to the second lockdown, but Jayne says they've been amazed at the loyalty of customers through a difficult time.
She says they're already at 80% capacity for hair and beauty appointments for when they re-open.
Jayne's described this year as 'the most emotional time' she's ever had in business - but the second lockdown has been easier:
"It's only going to be a short time, we hope. Knowing that we're going to reopen on the 3rd of December, I think is more manageable, knowing it's just a for a short time rather than for the first lockdown when you didn't know if there was going to be any light at the end of the tunnel."
