July is Independents Month and a chance to celebrate the city's 200 plus indies from hairdressers to pet stores!

The last few years have been pretty tough with the Novichok poisoning and the Covid-19 pandemic.

Salisbury BID and Experience Salisbury will be shining the spotlight on the variety of businesses over the next few weeks to honour their "resilience and spirit."

As part of those celebrations, shoppers will be able to get a free cotton tote shopping bag when they spend ÂŁ20 in participating stores.

There's a full list on theSalisbury BID website.

Robin McGown, Chief Executive of Salisbury BID said:

"It has been a turbulent year but our indies have shown their strength, and still stand proud. This is something we should celebrate. We are proud of our businesses and their resilience and during Independents Month, we acknowledge their hard work. We also say thank you to shoppers for their continued support and as we move towards the end of coronavirus restrictions, we look forward to a positive summer for everyone."

Susi Mason, owner of Casa Fina and Salisbury BID Director, said:

"We've been through difficult times over the last 15 months but July is a time to celebrate. Salisbury has a wealth of independent businesses that make the city centre unique and we want to thank everyone who has supported us. Salisbury is a special place and by shopping local you are helping to preserve the unique offer of our city centre for the future."

There are many reasons to shop with our local indies: the vast array of unique shops keeps the city centre vibrant, they help entice visitors and the money we spend in them is kept in the local economy.
