Salisbury Hospice Charity's celebrating their 40th anniversary this year, and they've come up with another way to get involved in supporting them.

They're calling on people to give something up for Lent, which begins on Wednesday 17th February, and stick to it for 40 days.

Each day would represent a year that the Hospice has been helping people with palliative care.

You could give up anything from Netflix bingeing, or chocolate; to smoking, drinking or working more than your normal hours.

Events Fundraiser Abi Blake said:

"By joining the challenge, fundraisers will not only be helping themselves but will be directly supporting members of our community living with a life limiting illness right now.

"We have been overwhelmed with the response, with nearly 100 people joining the group within just a couple of days. It is wonderful to see so many people coming together to give something up for the Hospice."

The charity's even set up a Facebook group for participants to support each other through the challenge.

Salisbury Hospice is asking everyone taking part to pledge ÂŁ40 to them, or ÂŁ1 a day.

That's enough money to fund an hour's aromatherapy session for their patients.

There's more about the challenge on the Salisbury Hospice website.
