The Salisbury Hospice Charity is looking for people daring enough to walk a distance of 15 feet across hot coals that will be at a temperature of around 550 degrees celsius!

It's the first time this has ever been done in Salisbury too, with the feat being planned for outside the Guildhall on Thursday 25th February next year.

The charity's asking people to have a go while raising money for them and their viral work on site and in the community.

Abi Blake, Event Fundraiser said:

"2021 marks 40 years of Salisbury Hospice delivering outstanding care to its patients their families and carers. To mark this very special year, we wanted to introduce an exhilarating new fundraiser, which has never happened in Salisbury before.

"The first question most people ask about a Fire Walk is, will it hurt? Some say they feel the heat through their soles, others say it's freezing cold, each walker has his or her own experience. We are encouraging supporters to sign up and have a go themselves to see which one they feel. Whichever it is, it certainly won't be a feeling they'll forget!"

The walk itself will be led by UK Fire Walk, one of the country's experts in the field.

Everyone taking part will get training from Scott Bell - who's the twice Guinness World Record holder for the 'Greatest Fire Walking Distance', covering 328 feet (almost 100 metres) of burning coals.

It's being described as a 'mind-over-matter' challenge, with entries now open for those wanting to take part.

Registration is £30 per person with the charity asking people to also raise a minimum of £150 in sponsorship.

You can find out more, and sign up to take part on the Salisbury Hospice website.
