More than 1,400 real Christmas have been recycled on behalf of Salisbury Hospice, during a three day campaign.

The charity's annual collection's been held once again, from Friday until yesterday (13th to 15th January).

Volunteers have been out on the roads of South Wiltshire, and for the first time, West Hampshire, taking away trees to be chipped up.

We're told almost 530 miles have been covered over the course of the weekend to collect the trees.

Households taking part could access the service, in return for a donation to Salisbury Hospice.

90% of the donations, once admin costs are taken out, are given to the Hospice, with the other 10% being distributed to other local good causes.

The effort's estimated to have brought in more than £23,700 to the cause.

That'll go towards their work providing palliative care to patients, both at the Hospice site and through their At Home service.

The charity needs to raise £1.5 million towards their £2.4 million running costs each year.
