We might have only just started putting up the Christmas decorations for this year, but we're being asked to think about what happens after the festive season already.

The idea behind the collection scheme is simple, we can book a slot for our real trees to be picked up by Salisbury Hospice volunteers and they'll chip it down for you, in return for a donation to the charity.

The scheme's being expanded this time around as well, with collections taking place in SP1, SP2, SP3, SP4, SP5, SP6 and for the first time, SP9 postcodes.

Salisbury Hospice collected more than 1,000 trees during the last campaign, as well as raising ÂŁ13,000 for the charity.

It's also an environmentally friendly way of disposing of your tree, while supporting the cause.

10% of the donations made will also be passed on to the Charlie's Star charity, which funds respite breaks for families that have lost a child under the age of 19.

The trees will be chipped and recycled to be used as animal bedding at Rose Farm in Hurdcott, or turned into compost at Newbourne Farm near Fordingbridge.

You can register your tree to be collected between the 8th and 10th January 2021.

To sign up, visit the Just Helping website or call 01722 416353 - with a closing date of 4th January 2021.
