The new Chair of the Board of Trustee's for the Salisbury Hospice Charity says she wants the charity to grow and progress.

Nikki Spicer, who owns Vita Skin Spa on St Anne Street, has taken up the role as Chair of the Board after six years as a trustee.

“We’d like to get to a position where we raise more money than we need to raise,” Nikki told Greatest Hits Radio.

The Hospice charity requires a minimum of £3 million per year to run, half of which is funded by the NHS.

Exceeding that target would allow the charity to invest in ‘new and great things’, and Nikki said that new fundraising events being planned, alongside some of the old favourites.

Salisbury Hospice Charity is close to Nikki’s heart, as they cared for her mum in 2015.

Nikki was invited to join the board of trustee’s at the end of 2016, taking her spot in 2017.

She says it’s exciting to see how her journey with the charity moves forward.

“Having a bigger part (in the charity) is really amazing and I feel like it’s something my mum would be really proud of and something that I feel is nice to do in her memory.

“It’s a great honour to be able to take that forward and see what happens with the charity over the next few years.”

And despite the challenges of the world now, such as the cost-of-living crisis Nikki believes the charity is already making progress in the right direction.

“We’re just always having to look for new ways to do things,” she said, “Fundraising gets harder whenever these things come up, but it’s an exciting time to be part of the charity.”
