Salisbury Hospice has announced a new fundraising event to replace the Midnight Walk.

Held on Saturday May 21st the Celebration Walk aims to 'commemorate losses' and 'celebrate resilience' over the past two years since the pandemic began.

The charity says it's important to reflect the changes.

'Much has changed since the last in person Midnight Walk held in May 2019 and Salisbury Hospice Charity would like to take this opportunity to recognise and celebrate the small victories, the big losses, the challenges overcome and remember those who are greatly missed. The pandemic has changed us all and the charity wishes to acknowledge that; gather as a community, and collectively look towards a brighter future'

The Celebration Walk will start and finish at Salisbury Guildhall.

Two routes

There will be a choice of two brand new routes a 5 mile and a 10 mile with walkers setting off at 6pm to enjoy the_' golden hours before the sun sets'_rather than walking through the night.

Features of the Celebration Walk will include, a minute of reflection, an opportunity to light a candle, tie a ribbon on the memorial tree and the placing of a permanent memorial tree for our community.

In line with HRH The Queen’s wish to celebrate her Jubilee by planting trees, each finisher will receive a sapling instead of a medal. This will be a living reminder of whoever or whatever they are celebrating.
