Local football club Bemerton Heath Harlequins has raised over £2,500 for Salisbury Hospice with a charity football match and a quiz.

The club were remembering former vice-chairman Clive Leonard, who passed away earlier this year. Mr Leonard was cared for by the Hospice in his final days.

The club announced their final total to be donated on their twitter account, thanking everyone who participated and donated, saying the two events were a perfect tribute to a ‘great’ man.

The match, which took place at the end of May, featured a group of Harlequins ‘Legends’ taking on a collection of Salisbury ‘All Stars’ which included players from other clubs in the Salisbury area.

On the pitch, Harlequins are preparing for their first season in the Southern League, having clinch a dramatic promotion in April to their highest ever level of football.
