More Green Businesses Awards handed out
Salisbury Transition City have received positive feedback about the scheme from local people
Salisbury Transition City have announced a further five winners of Green Business Awards.
Mark Jones Eye Care, Downton Distillery, Scrace Architects, The Pantry Partnership and Vinyl Collectors and Sellers are the latest companies to receive an award.
The scheme celebrates eco-friendly adaptations local businesses have made, while also providing the knowledge required to go further with their sustainability journey.
“It’s fantastic to discover that so many businesses are already making efforts to become more sustainable, we would like to take this opportunity to celebrate and recognise their achievements” said Sophia Karlberg, a project manager for the Green Business Awards.
Sophia added that the scheme had received “very positive” feedback from local people and businesses.
Vinyl Collectors and Sellers
Three award levels are available to businesses, gold, silver and bronze.
Mark Jones Eye Care achieved a gold award. They are advocating for improvements across their industry and ensure the brands they work with share their values.
They have also dedicated themselves to recycling and repurposing frames, recycling contact lenses and offer free refills to a “bottle for life” of lens cleaning solution.
Another company to earn a gold award is Downton Distillery. They’re powered by renewable energy and their water comes from a local spring.
While encouraging customers to reuse and refill gin bottles, they have a herb garden where they plan to grow Juniper trees, while all green waste gets composted on site.
Scrace Architects received a silver award, with their designs focussing on including recycled materials. And in doing so, they guide clients towards sustainable solutions to make sure buildings exceed thermal efficiency standards by design.
The Pantry Partnership and Vinyl Collectors and Sellers each earnt a bronze award.
Local not-for-profit organisation The Pantry Partnership were commended for tackling local food wastage and helping people in need. With 1000kg of surplus food from supermarkets each month, they transform it into delicious meals which are then distributed among other local organisations.
For Vinyl Collectors and Sellers, their reduction in electricity and water usage has coupled with a vinyl cleaning solution refill service, aimed at reducing single use plastics.
They ensure vintage audio equipment stays out of landfill with their repair service.
Previous winners of Green Business Awards include Muse Hairdressing and Casa Fina.
