Foodbank calls for volunteers to help feed south Wiltshire's most in need
Salisbury Foodbank needs volunteers for at least three locations
A South Wiltshire charity says it's in need of helping hands to feed families in the community who are struggling.
Salisbury Foodbank tells us it needs volunteers at three of it's locations across the Salisbury area.
The charity, which opens a new foodbank in Tidworth early next month, needs volunteers to help at the new venue, as well as in St Pauls on Wednesday's and in Wilton on every other Friday.
We spoke to one of the Foodbank's current volunteers, Amanda, who told us it gives her a sense of purpose.
She said: "You're doing something for others, that's a really great, magnanimous thing."
Amanda continued, saying: "Although I feel my part is small it is teamwork. We have a laugh and we help others at the same time. What's not to like?"
She told Greatest Hits Radio that her role allows her to see life from a different angle.
"I think when you come from a place where things have always not been that difficult, it helps to balance your own perspective on life," Amanda said.
Amanda told us she enjoys meeting the families they're supporting.
"Sometime it's quite sad when clients visit the foodbank and you have to be prepared for that. Other times, they're very upbeat and it's uplifting," she said.
