As children begin their summer holidays, Salisbury Foodbank say they're preparing for what is likely to be a busy few months.

With parents unable to rely on school meals, it's expected many will need help to feed their children an extra meal a day.

The first four months of this year were the busiest ever for Salisbury's food bank, with stocks also being quite low.

Stocks have been replenished to a comfortable level

The public have helped replenish stocks to a good level, with June and July slowing down a little.

However, they're still feeding over 100 people a week, providing about 1000 meals.

But it's likely to creep up again, while children are off school.

Salisbury Foodbank Manager Maria Stevenson said:

"Summer holidays always concern us we know that many children will be fed at school through free school meals or pupil premium so that's five to six weeks where children won't be getting that free food, so it is a concern and we do anticipate that our demand will increase because of that."
