Fisherton Street is bracing itself for more overnight closures from this evening (12/8).

The street will be inaccessible to all vehicles from 7pm this evening to 6am for a period of three weeks.

It's in order for the parts of the Fisherton Gateway project to be completed, including resurfacing the road and building raised continuous footways at side road junctions.

In a similar fashion to last weeks overnight closures, there's support for local restaurants and takeaways.

Delivery drivers will be able to park in the area behind City Hall and walk through to Fisherton Street to collect takeaways.

Delivery drivers can access the area via Avon Approach and the A36. Central Car Park and The Maltings Car Park will remain open as free parking between 6pm and 8am for people using Fisherton Street.

During this period pedestrian access along the street will remain available and pedestrian access to all businesses will be maintained at all times.

Cllr Nick Holder, Cabinet Member for Highways, said: “The overnight works represent a significant step as we near the completion of the enhancements on Fisherton Street. We recognise the closures will cause some disruption and every effort will be made to minimise this as much as possible.

“We are still aiming to complete the enhancements along Fisherton Street by the end of August. In the meantime we would like to thank businesses and residents for their patience and continued co-operation in delivering these important schemes for Salisbury.

“One of our Business Plan priorities is to have vibrant well-connected communities and the £9 million investment from the government’s Future High Streets Fund is helping us achieve this.”
