Tickets will be drawn today (Saturday 27th March) for the first Salisbury City Community Lottery draw.

The first lucky winner of the draw could win £25,000.

It's been set up by Salisbury City Council in order to raise money for charities, community interest companies and organisations in the city that have been affected by the pandemic.

To take part people have been buying a ticket for £1 online, with 60% of all money collected going to good causes.

The rest will be for prize money, an external lottery manager who runs the game and VAT.

Lucky winners will be informed via email and will have the money transferred to their bank account.

The numbers will also be announced on the Salisbury City Community Lottery website.

The groups signed up include:

  • Community Transport South Wiltshire
  • Horatio's Garden
  • STARS Appeal
  • Wessex Stoma Support Group
  • Safer & Supportive Salisbury
  • Salisbury Transition City
  • The Pantry Partnership
  • Alabare

The council say that the coronavirus pandemic has meant it's more important than ever that local charities receive financial support in the future.

Salisbury City Community Lottery will continue as a weekly draw, tickets can be bought here.
