Salisbury Fire Station opening doors for public to visit
We can see our local firefighters in action
Salisbury Fire Station is throwing open it's doors to the public today (21/9) and giving us a chance to see our local firefighters in action.
The open day at the Ashley Road site has been a success over the last two years and will be raising money for the Fire Fighters Charity.
A range of demonstrations will be performed, including hot oil fires, using the aerial ladder platform, a road traffic collision, and a building fire.
We'll also be able to try our hand at life-saving activities, with a chance to test our throwing ability at the throwline target practice; and a fire engine experience.
Children will be able to dress up as firefighters and spray water targets, while a we can make a purchase from the Fire Service Store.
Firefighter Sam Edwards said: “We’re building on the success of the last two years, and we hope to have more fire appliances on show than ever before! This is a completely free event for all the family to enjoy, but any money raised through the shop and refreshments will benefit the Fire Fighters Charity. We just want people to come along, meet their local firefighters and hopefully learn about staying safe while at home or out and about.”
The fire station has no parking available on site with visitors encouraged to use public transport or walk in.
